ABOUT US ...

100 Women Who Care - CYR is part of a global movement "100 Who Care" which began in 2006. Our chapter was founded in Sept 2015 by Laurie Brakeboer, who was inspired by the incredible impact of bringing like-minded women together to make significant donations in a short period of time.

Following an initial information session outlining how the giving circle would operate, several dedicated women stepped forward to help establish the foundation of this group.

Special thanks go to the original organizing committee—Jeanette Butler, Samantha King, and Judy Poulin—whose efforts were instrumental in our early success.

Our Giving Circle ...

Our giving circle focuses on supporting local non-profit charities serving Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, and the surrounding area. Members are deeply passionate about giving back to their community, actively nominating charities they believe in to receive support.

One of our earliest milestones was achieving a $10,000 donation in a single meeting. We were thrilled to reach that goal in April 2017 with a donation to New Leaf: Living and Learning Together. This achievement exemplifies the power of collective giving and our commitment to creating meaningful change.

Together, we continue to amplify the impact of local charities and strengthen our community, one meeting at a time.

About 100 Who Care Alliance & Other Chapters (Giving Circles)

The 100 Who Care Alliance is a global network of giving circles dedicated to making a profound impact in communities around the world. By harnessing the collective power of individuals committed to giving back, the Alliance has inspired countless groups to form and take action. These groups, such as 100 Women Who Care - Central York Region (CYR), come together to support local charities and initiatives, creating a ripple effect of generosity and change.

There are hundreds of giving circles actively operating in the US, Canada, and throughout the world! They include women’s groups, men’s (and guys) groups, people groups (which are groups that include both men and women), businesses (corporations, companies, entrepreneurs), and kid’s groups (that also include youth and teen groups). There are even virtual giving circles that collect on behalf of a national or global cause.
